Broadpark Breaks B & B in North Devon is ideally situated for exploring the beautiful Torridge estuary and the wonderful unspoilt countryside which surrounds it.
We are in Tarka country, 5 minutes from access to The Tarka Trail and Torrington Cycle Hire, linking to miles of idyllic walking or cycling for the serious walker/cyclist but is mainly flat so suitable for families and the less able bodied.
Great Torrington (1.5 miles) is home to Torrington 1646, bringing the Civil war history of the town to life and the R.H.S. Rosemoor Gardens. Concerts, gigs, plays & films are hosted at The Plough Arts Centre which also has an excellent licensed cafe.

The nearby villages have traditional pubs providing good ale/cider/wine choices, varied menus and attentive service. We are happy to provide lifts for our cyclists. There's always a warm welcome at The Bell Inn at Monkleigh (5 min's drive) which has great value speciality nights on Tues, Wed's Thur's as well as a varied full menu. The Coach and Horses at Buckland Brewer (10 min's drive) never fails to please with it's extensive and ever changing specials board. You will find online reviews for both but advanced booking is required due to their popularity with locals and visitors alike. The area is rich in musical open mic opportunities, great if you play an instrument (feel free to bring it), sing or just like to enjoy live music.
If you haven't enjoyed mingling with the masses and the stress inducing busy roads of east and south Devon or have just viewed this area as a place to stop for a night to break up the journey to or from Cornwall, then perhaps it's time to reconsider as you're missing a real treat ! The nearest seaside is Northam Burrows, beach and nature conservation area (15 min's drive) This really is the more reserved, naturally beautiful sister of Westward Ho! having plenty of space to spread out away from noisy, amusement seeking neighbours. An ideal place to take a barbecue and a bottle of wine at the end of the day.
For keen walkers, the coastal path is only a 15 minute drive. Magnificent Exmoor and Dartmoor, rugged & peaceful, are only 30 minutes drive. Quiet coves and the quaint coastal villages of Appledore, Clovelly, Instow, and Morwenstow are easily accessible. We are only 30 min's from the Cornish border, Bude and Widemouth. There are great local parks but indoor pools, The Big sheep, Milky Way and paintball/laser game centre offer a rainy day treat for children.
Historic country houses like Hartland Abbey, Arlington Court and Chambercombe Manor as well as the beautiful gardens of Marwood Hill, Docton Mill, Tapely Park and Castle Hill are just a short drive away.
If you're with us for a longer stay we are well paced for interesting day trips in any direction. You could explore the north coast - Ilfracombe or Lynton and Lynmouth, perhaps via Barnstaple or Arlington Court one day. On another day you could take in Castle Drogo and then explore Tavistock, (Buckland Abbey also nearby) with it's bustling pannier market and host of independent shops. The journey takes about 1 hour via good roads, with little traffic and includes an easy drive across western Dartmoor.
If shopping is your thing, Barnstaple, the principal town has a mix of thriving small shops lining its ancient streets, as well as major outlets, which can also be found at Atlantic Village (10 min's). With our guide you could take a short drive and find a market to browse every day of the week. The local agricultural shows offer a great day out showcasing crafts, produce and farming.
